Behind the Camera at Koster Shots
I’m Chris Koster, the photographer behind Koster Shots. Born and raised in Kansas, I developed an appreciation for wildlife, open spaces, dramatic weather, and the details people often overlook.
My journey into photography started with my father’s borrowed camera equipment and evolved into a serious passion when I purchased my Nikon D850. Today, I focus on photographing public safety training, government and community events, staff and organizational portraits, as well as wildlife and landscapes across Kansas. I also enjoy capturing travel photography.
My professional and volunteer experience around government, CERT, and Search & Rescue environments has taught me the importance of awareness, preparation, discretion, and working without disrupting the people being documented.
Whether I am photographing a training exercise, a community event, or wildlife in the field, my goal is the same: create honest, useful images that preserve the people, place, and purpose of the moment.
